Sembcorp Marine to Sign Offshore Platform Agreement

The subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine, SMOE provides a Letter of Intent for an EPC Agreement to construct an offshore oil platform integrated topside.

The agreement worth is about US$900 million, and it is from Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA, Norway, for engineering operations, procurement and building (EPC) of the process, oil drilling and quarters Platform (pdQ) topsides to be constructed at a water depth of 112 meters for the develepment of Ivar Aasen in the North Sea. The Ivar Aasen project is positioned west of the Johan Sverdrup-field in the Norwegian Continental Shelf, 180 kilometers west of Stavanger which contains almost 150-million barrels of oil equivalents.

Features on the 13700-tonne topsides, integrated with a seventy-men living quarters module cum-helideck are going to include modules for process, gas compression, separation, water injection, flare boom, metering and utilities.

Building of the drilling platform is expected to commence in December 2013 with sail-away planned for March 2016. And the 1st oil is being expected in the 4th quarter of 2016.

SMOE is going to be working with its engineering partner Wood Group Mustang in executing the construction of the drilling platform.
