Dockwise Ltd. has announced record-breaking installation of the close to 30 000 ton fully integrated SHWE Platform during the last weekend, topping the previous installation record held at 21 000 tons by Dockwise. The state-of-the-art topside is completely equipped with a hotel and even a dining venue for approximately 200 staff together with both drilling and production capabilities.
The mega giant topside, Block A-1 “SHP TOPSIDE”, was safely and successfully installed through float-over method. The strategical cooperation COOEC assures access to the 2nd largest installation launch barge in the world, the HYSY229. The massive barge was served and managed by Dockwise to install the topside on top of the 22 000 ton “SHP JACKET” set by Dockwise earlier this year.
The Basic Tow arrived in the SHWE Field, in the Bay of Bengal, on December 8, 2012 after a 23-day sailing totaling almost 4 000 n.m. from Hyundai Heavy Industries’ (HHI) fabrication yard in Ulsan, Republic of Korea. Dockwise is going to continue cooperating with Hyundai Heavy Industries to transport and install mega platforms with new assignments in the Dockwise backlog.
“The surefire SHWE topside installation and jacket launch mark a considerable milestone for Dockwise,” states Alex Rodenburg, Senior Project Manager. “This further validates Dockwise’s evolution into an offshore contracting partner for the transport and installation of Oil & Gas platforms.”
